I'm from England and I'm a huge fan of the British Blonde Bombshell Miss Diana Dors, so naturally I became interested in Miss Jayne Mansfield too.

Diana's and Jayne's careers collided several times. Diana was originaly offered the lead in A Girl Cant Help It, but her then husband turned it down on her behalf as he didn't like the 'rock 'n' roll' element !! Of course Jayne was wonderful in the part and the film became a huge success for Jayne. I bet Diana had a few choice words for her husband!!

Diana and Jayne met whilst touring their cabaret shows and Diana spoke very highly of Jayne and admired her greatly.

I think Jayne was extremley beautiful and a very talented actress, her sensitivity for a character was showcased in the wonderful Single Room Furnished.

I read Diana's Bio and she was considered a serious actress when she first got into films then later went to play the sexpot roles, I liked her alot and its a shame she passed on at a early age.

hi there! I'm just a big fan of Miss Jayne Mansfield and glad to see there is a form for us to chat about one of Hollywood's Blonde Bombshells

I adore Diana Dors. A wonderful british pen pal of mine sent me a fantastic DVD copy of YIELD TO THE NIGHT and I love it. She was beautiful and an amazing actress. In one of her books she writes very fondly of Jayne. She is missed!

Remember when Jayne and Diana last met, Diana was putting on weight to play I believe Mrs Bumble in 'Oliver Twist'. I know for a fact the press pitted the two women together at some London function to see who would stay the longest. Diana left the party and so Jayne was declared the winner. In her heydays Diana was just as pretty as Jayne and just as scandalous, but she was not the only top heavy blonde to come out of Britain. There was also Sabrina from the 'St Trinian' fame. Her breast where just big as Jaynes at the time. I think the British newspapers called her, 'Britains answer to Jayne Mansfield.' Also came from the UK was June Wilkinson. She might have had bigger breast than Jayne, but somehow I don't think June knew how to package her assets as good as Jayne Mansfield. Do you think Jayne would have starred in any of the Russ Myers films if she had not met such an untimely ending?

I have heard of Diana Doors, and I ahve seen lovely photos of her.
Sorry to sound ignorant, as this is probably a really stupid question:
Did Diana keep her Brit accent in the films she was in? Did she "play dumb"?

She was a Briitish actress so she did have an accent. Both of the films I have seen her in she used her accent and neither of the films that I have seen her in did she play a dumb character. She wrote very fondly of Jayne in one of her books.

So did the late Shelly Winters. She speaks of Jayne being at Romanoffs. I'm not too sure if it was the same party where Jayne showed Sophia Loren that American women also had breast :P , but Shelly speaks of Jaynes breast falling out at this party and some guy called Tony wanting to put them back into Jaynes *beep* lol

Do you know that Diana Dors and I think her first husband Dennis Hamilton, would spy through peek holes in the floor boards of her home on people having sex in her home. It was such a scandal when she revealed it in the 70's in the 'News of the World' paper. This became the selling point of one of her two biographies.

She was ahead of her time. She has a lot of fun stories in the book FOR ADULTS ONLY. I loved her in BERSERK! with Joan Crawford.

Oh it's nice to read so many positive comments about Diana. I would have loved to have been in the same room as DD and JM! imangine that.

I wish they'd made a movie together, either a high camp 60's romp called Blonde Killers from Outer Space! or a a tense noirish thriller called Death of a Blonde! Oh my imagination is running away with me! It would've been fab tho'.

Cheers everyone.

Or if Jayne had been in Berserk with both La Dors AND La Crawford! Oh my! Jayne would've been great in the Judy Geeson role!

The interesting thing about Diana Dors was she was never bothered about being glamorous. It was a role she got into because she had the figure for it and then she had her hair bleached and her then Husband really pushed the cat for her.

I love all the glamour that the fifties blondes had. No actress today comes close to it.

^I agree. I love when Dorsy gained weight, I thinks he looked so cute! I just got Steaming, btw! Great *beep*. Poor thing, there is a scene where she picks up a telephone and she is really struggling, she must have been in so much pain.

I have never seen a Diana Dors film...but I would like to someday.
Diana Dors and Jayne Mansfield (sadly) are not as well known amoung the Australian public...so it may take me a while to find one.

Oh, and can someone please point me in the right direction to find some HQ pics o Diana? :P
